Job Title: Performance Director
(Full time fixed term from 1st April 2009 to 31st March 2013)

Archery GB is the governing body for the sport of archery in Great Britain and Northern Ireland and serves eight Regional Societies, comprising over 30,000 members.
Following a strategic review and re-structuring of its Performance Unit, Archery GB is seeking to recruit a Performance Director with specific responsibilities for the Olympic and Paralympic outcomes in the UK Sport Lottery funded disciplines.
Reporting to the Chief Executive (as line manager) and to the Archery GB Performance Management Group, the Performance Director will have overall responsibility for the leadership and direction of the Archery GB Olympic, Paralympic and international programmes. S/he will have accountability for the management of Archery GB’s Performance Unit which collectively service the Podium, Development and Junior programmes for Olympic and Paralympic archery, and is responsible for adherence to all national and international policies and procedures.
Working closely with the Head Coach, the Performance Director will lead and manage a high performance programme for archery that aims to achieve the best possible results in the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, and beyond.
This extremely challenging post will require a dynamic, strong and focused individual able to drive a medal winning culture amongst athletes, coaches, Performance Unit administrative personnel and support service providers.
The Performance Director will:
· Provide overall leadership, direction and management to Archery GB’s Olympic and Paralympic programmes, subject to the strategic lead given by Archery GB’s Board of Directors.
· Liaise with funding agencies and other partners to ensure the maintenance of good working relationships, to support the success of the Olympic and Paralympic programmes.
· Ensure the appropriate technical, management and support systems and structures are in place to support athletes selected for the programmes, and their training and competition schedules, and that such systems and structures are clearly communicated and widely understood.
· Oversee the implementation, management and communication of appropriate protocols and processes for the initial identification and development of talented archers.
· Ensure the provision of high quality management and logistical support for teams of archers who represent Archery GB at international competitions at home and overseas.
· Manage and oversee the provision of support services to archers selected for Archery GB squads and teams.
· Manage Performance Unit personnel who support the Olympic and Paralympic Podium, Development and Junior programmes.
· Periodically report progress against objectives to the Archery GB PMG and (on a day to day basis) to the Chief Executive.
· Manage the World Class budget which is currently in excess of £2m per annum.
· Liaise with, and report to, UK Sport on all aspects of the World Class Programme.
The appointee will have significant experience of leading and managing a successful World Class Performance programme at World, Olympic and Paralympic level and will have a personal commitment to excellence.

The successful applicant will need to have a satisfactory CRB check to comply with Archery GB’s Child Protection Policy.
