Giuseppe Seimandi, the left handed barebow archer from Italy, managed to shoot 675 points over the weekend of June 16th and 17th during the match in Lusuolo di Mulazzo. He shot a stunning 347 in the unmarked round, dropping only 13 points there, and 328 in the marked round the following day. FITA does not maintain an official record list, but they do publish a list of best scores. A bit lame, but it is the best they offer. According to that list the best score for an unmarked round until now was 343, shot by Mathias Larsson during the Swedish Open in June 2000. So, an improvement of 4 points of the old 'record'. The best score for a marked round is still 332, shot by Erik Jonsson during the Oslo Open in Norway, in May 2004. Strangely enough the Swedish archery foundation is not listing that 332 score as the personal best for Erik on the marked round on their website. Odd, since we received those scores from the organization back in 2004, so we know they are valid. Nobody is keeping track of the combined scores over a weekend, but the best score we could find for a barebow archer is 673 points, shot by Erik Jonsson during the Worldgames 2005 in Duisburg. In any case, this 675 is a heck of a score, and it seems Giuseppe is well in shape for the upcoming European Field Archery Championship in Bjelovar Croatia this summer.
