Arrival of teams Impression of the day: We arrived here in Bjelovar, Croatia safe and sound. The traffic up here was quite bad I must admit. Not every part of the route is highway yet, and with the weekend coming up, vacationers returning home or leaving for a fortnight, it seemed all of Croatia was clogged up. How shall I phrase it… we had lots of opportunity to enjoy the sights, even those in the drivers seat. What was interesting was that huge billboards where being placed next to the road, as far as 35 kilometers away from the city of Bjelovar. Even the locals know something is about to happen where arrows are involved :) Three locations are important here during the week. The unofficial practice and official practice and material inspection will be held in the football stadium in Bjelovar. Usually the home turf for football club Bjelovar, but arrows will fly for this occasion. Furthermore we have the park in the center in town, the place for the team and individual finals later this week. And finally the place where the qualification round is being shot, about 13 kilometers from Bjelovar center, in Utiskani. Utiskani is a forested area, rather flat, not extremely dense so not very dark. However we know the coursebuilders to be a rather devious group of experienced field archers and we are sure they will try to use every trick in the book to make a challenging shoot on the given terrain. Since we start on Tuesday with an unmarked round, these courses are off limits for everybody who knows what field archery is about, sort of.
