Program in Cavriglia (Agriturismo La Forra) Second qualification round 24 targets - known distances 09:30 start of the 2nd qualification round
Impression of the day:
After our second day of the qualification we now know who is advancing to the elimination round tomorrow. You can find the scores on Ianseo, but we will upload them ourselves too for eternity. The organization has helpers in the field that collect the score after every four targets to be able to publish intermediate results, although with field that is rather hard. You never know what targets people already shot, and some people meet the help after shooting just one target. In any case, it gave an idea about dropped points and for the archers it is kind of nice to meet a friendly Italian face here in the hills every four targets.
It was interesting to hear the discussions afterwards about what course was the most challenging one. The marked round changed things a bit: with longer distances (and hills that stay the same height), the inclination reduces somewhat. Still, the conclusion was that the blue course had the most up and down shots (only two shots were actually horizontal), but the red course was harder to walk and warmer. For those who have read Dante: one of the archers asked what number of hell this would be. So, all in all it would be fair to say that both are equally hard, albeit one for the conditions and one for its technical merits. Footing and standing at the posts is hard on both courses. Being in the field for a day makes one appreciate the comfort of a horizontal piece of ground.
Uploading photos is quite cumbersome for us: the Internet in the hotel allows us to upload about a picture a minute, and when these darn archers get on the Internet after they showered, it slows down to two minutes a picture. In any case, with the famous Italian light (that inspired renaissance painters in the past), even a blind man should be able to make a half decent picture here. We hope you enjoy our impressions. Let us know if you do. |
